Books, Fiction and Nonfiction

Developmental Editing: Seek developmental editing when you have a completed draft and you’re ready for a professional opinion on the content. I’ll read your manuscript and provide notes that focus on the big picture, including organization, cohesiveness, narrative continuity (if applicable), consistency, and tone. Starting rate: $0.014/word. Fact-checking available for an additional flat $100 fee. 

Copyediting: Seek a copyedit after completing a developmental edit or otherwise finalizing your manuscript. Using your preferred style guide, I’ll copyedit your work, focusing on spelling, grammar, punctuation, usage, and clarity. Starting rate: $0.019/word. Fact-checking available for an additional flat $100 fee.

Proofreading: Seek proofreading when your book has been edited and is almost ready for publication, but you need to make sure no typos have slipped through the cracks. I’ll read it closely, following your project’s style guide, and recommend textual or formatting corrections. Starting rate: $0.01/word.


Résumé and Cover Letter

Proofreading: I’ll review your completed résumé or cover letter, cleaning up any errors and marking any places that could use improvement, if desired. Rate: $15, or $20 for both résumé and cover letter.

Copyediting: Your résumé or cover letter is mostly done, but you need help cleaning it up and rephrasing things. I’ll copyedit your materials and help you tailor them to the specific employer you plan to contact. Rate: $20, or $25 for both résumé and cover letter. 


Website

I’ll edit all copy on your website. Rate varies per project. If you regularly add pages, blog posts, or updates to your site, I’ll edit additions at a rate of $0.018/word.


Small Business Needs

Contact me to make a custom editing plan. I’ll edit website copy, ads, hiring ads, newsletters, social media posts, and whatever else your business may need. Free consultation. Rate: $25/hour.


What to Expect

I’ll edit your text using the track changes function of Word or Google Docs so that you’ll see every change I make. This way, you can simply “reject” what you don’t like. I edit and proofread according to The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary by default, but I’ll use your preferred style and dictionary upon request.
